mobility centre
The aim of the project is to incentivise the use of sustainable transport options, such as micro-mobility and electric cars, within the Docklands community. The centre provides rental, repair, and retail services. The initial concept was to incorporate a sculptural element made up of hanging bikes that would act as a focal point to attract visitors into the building.
Concept Diagrams
The idea evolved into a looping conveyor belt system, visually connecting all the spaces harmoniously around a central atrium. The sculpture is also functional; damaged bikes are taken up for repairs and sent back down once fixed.
